 Sociology and Culture 
A primary focus of ICS is to assist the Caribbean-American community to increase its participation in the U.S. democratic processes through actvities such as civic and voter education.  ICS also promotes the conservation and development of Caribbean arts and culture, an understanding of Caribbean culture in the United States,  and outreach to Caribbean diaspora communities around the world.  Our  focus in this area includes:
  •     Establishment and Promotion of Commemoration of June as National Caribbean American Heritage Month
  •     Establishment of Faith Based Social Entrepreneurship Initiative
  •     Organization of  Elected Officials Advisory Roundtable
  •     Census 2010 Education Campaign
  •     Soca De Vote Civic Education Campaign
  •     Exonerate Marcus Garvey Campaign

  •     African Union - Diaspora Joseph Project

CHINA FRIENDSHIP PROJECT

In 2007, ICS President Dr. Claire Nelson led a team of four including herself on a fact-finding mission to China.  During the ten-day mission the team visited Beijing, Shanghai and Hangzou.  They met with officials of the Olympics Committee, China Institute of Science and University Officials as well as members of the Caribbean and African Diplomatic Corps and Diaspora studying and working in China.
